PC Peripherals will laptop boost its performance if upgraded from 512mb ram to 2 gb ram?

In general, RAM upgrade definitely helps in multitasking

or in case you run applications that take up large amount

of memory.

^^ yes, ram upgrade will only help u to multitask better. You will be able to open up more apps simultaneously but it wont make the apps run any faster.

Win xp, 1.60 ghz, 80 gb hd, 512 mb ram.

sometimes the ff or opens slow, the folders open slow, window closing is slow, etc thus will it help if i upgrade to 2 gb and wat will it cost.its for my laptop.

Mostly its DDR2 RAM. But check your machine specs to see max amt of ram you can add.
