Look at the CPU market bro. Intel and AMD keep giving competition to each other on higher end and prices have stayed relatively same in the past 3+ years while the performance has shot up like crazy. From intel 10th gen and above and Ryzen Zen2 and above the prices stayed nearly same and also drop frequently while the generational gains have been huge. That's because healthy competition and at the end consumers win.AMD has also become like NVIDIA and what Intel was not a while ago. 3080 was launched for 60k and 4080 for double the price but not double the performance (DLSS should not be added).
AM5 here is an exception due to the platform costs of DDR5 with due time that'll also come down. But as you said Nvidia is very proud to rule the high end GPU segment without competition and they don't care. Lene wale log lenge hi chahe kitne bhi dene pde.
