well getting my hands on an xfx 6800gt agp this week:ohyeah:

wanted to know wether my current crappy psu will suport it without blowing anything up :bleh: ...
my config is..
amd 1700+ 512sd ram, 40gb hdd, dvd rom, cd writer.....and also will be attaching creative X-Fi card to it:ohyeah: so is the power ratings on this one enough for the system or do i need another one?

yeah yeah i know cpu major bottleneck for the card but might be upgrading next week hopefully
neways plz lemme know :cool2:

should work as long as u dont add another HDD...my 300W blew when new HDD added (with the 6600GT)..and 17A on the 12v is ok...just see the voltage deviations after installing the card

Whats more shocking to me is that you are putting 6800GT in 1700+ with SD RAM.

To be honest you are westing your money.

Anyway. About PSU. 17Amps on +12V is little to be concerned about with 6800GT.

The card is power hungry and PSUs like zebronics are unreliable with their ratings. I am not sure that they even put out 17Amps as rated on +12V rail.

See if it works. If you get instability then replace it.

By the way whats your motherboard?

And if you are upgrading then upgrade the whole system to PCI express system.

If it were a powersafe or some reputed brand then 17-18A on the 12v line would be a-ok i guess for the 6800GT, but i dont trust zebronics enough. So better get a good psu if you can.

No point getting a 6800 GT AGP right now... No point at all with a 1700+ and if you are upgrading then go in for PCIx...

1700+ and a 6800 gt? Are you crazy?
Youll get 50 FPS in most games in what you should get 120. Coz of your CPU.
Save up. Buy a new proccy, more ram, new gfx card. Later.

Sad eh? Ofcourse hes buying it. If id get my hands on a 6800 GT, id never leave it. (Until i get my hands on something better :P)

anyways looking at stans pic he has the 400w psu .. wouldnt really put any trust in that . get at least the 500w zebby which is somewhat ok

hehe Already baught it at a very nice deal!!! along with the xfi card !!!well am upgrading next week hopefully :P..... so u guyz saying its not safe to plug the card onto my current PSU......

@funky... its a Gigabyte ga72mmh mobo.......

Dont worry nothing will blow off if that is your prime concern :)... The only problem that mught occour is casual hang ups or a cold boot... I am using a AGP 6800 GT with 64 3200 on a 400 watt Powersafe PSU without any problems... BTW how good was the deal ;)...

Believe me,he had a good deal for those card. Now im not saying how much coz hell kill me for that.
His prob is he got the card first. So he must have to build a system around it so hes stuck with AGP.

hehe lets just say if id tell u id have to kill u :P

hehhe xfi card got it at the normal rates its selling at .....

so It will be safe to plug in the 6800gt now? (jst for testing purposes...) along with the x-fi card... or should i just plug in the 6800gt...... im getting mixed replies so really getting confused :(
