Hello all,

Just yesterday, my BPL CRT TV's speakers went kaput apparently. Now, there is an option to connect external speakers directly to the TV, which I used to connect a woofer from my Sony music system as a temporary arrangement. So the sound's now OK.

So is it a good idea to have PC speakers connected directly to the TV as a permanent solution? What spec do they need to be if they are to match the speakers on an average TV? Will they blow out or something?

Does it have to be a PC speaker set with an amplifier [i.e. 2.1 instead of 2.0]? Currently the Sony speaker is connected directly, i.e. not through any headphone or audio out [those red n white outputs?]. So if the PC speakers route is feasible, how will the connections need to be?

Thanks for your time. Much appreciated.

How is the connectivity options for your pc speakers?
Just a single point input or more than 2 inputs.
If it is a single input all you have got to do is connect it to the headphone jack and use it.
I guess your pc speakers are self powered i .e they do not get the power like the headphones.

yup, you can connect any 2.1 speaker setup. all you need is a RCA to female 3.5mm jack. Just go to an electronics components shop and tell them you need to hook up PC speakers to your TV's RCA output. They should give you the right thing
