I had an old 40GB Hdd lying around and so I bought a case for it to use it as a portable hdd.

I have 2 partitions 10 GB as FAT32 and the rest as NTFS.

I want to collect a couple of files (movies) from my friend who owns a macbook. The OS version is 10.5.2. We are able to transfer files through pen drives which ofcourse use fat as their file system.

Do you think the macbook will detect my hdd? If not is there a way to get it to work.

You don't need to do any conversion as OS 10.5 natively supports NTFS, FAT32 partitions, but you only have read permission in the case of NTFS partition, you won't be able to write anything onto it.

If you still need to write on it, download Paragon NTFS for Mac and you are set.
