I am looking to upgrade my graphics card to play GTA4.
My system requirement is
processor intel® pentium 4 Extreme ED. 2 core(3.00Ghz)
RAM 1.25 GB DDR2 533MHz
One PCI Express* x16
HDD 400GB
window7 Ultimate Genuine 32bit

presently i am using nvidia Ge force 6200TC.Is 9800gt is compatible with old PCI Express x16?Manufacture saying that it is designed for the PCI Express 2.0 bus architecture.Detail of 9800GT
so please suggest me 9800gt is compatible with PCIe x16 ??????:S

Yup! its compatible with PCIe x16.

Even with the 9800GT, u wont hav much luck with GTA IV because of that P4.

I suggest an upgrade:-

Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz @ 2.8k

Biostar TA785G3 @ 3.6k

2GB DDR3 1333MHz RAM @ 2.2k

Sapphire HD5670 512MB GDDR5 ARTIC Accelero @ 5.3k

Sell of ur old rig and get this. BTW, please mention ur PSU.

You will need to upgrade smps . Go for 500 w cooler master extreme costs Rs3000 or cosair vx 450.

few points u should consider,

I am playing GTA IV on GTS 250 1 GB, and it is taking up more than 800 MBs of gpu memory on 1400*900, almost all settings on high except for shadow and water details.

Mine is a C2D E8200 with 4 GB dddr2 ram installed & around 3.26 effective on XP32 bit.

Its giving me 22-32 FPS in general (patch applied).

As for ur setup, u r on windows 7 which itself requires mush more RAM than XP, second GTA IV itself is memory hungry game, you just have 1.25 GB of memory. which I believe will be a big bottleneck and you should consider about that.
