Your GPU is probably worth a bit more than what that cooler retails for.

Is it worth it? No but seriously, dust the present stock heatsink and use it.

My Card idles at 75Degrees

i thas been like that for past 4 years i had under clocked it a bit and kept the fans speed at 100%

on load it goes beyon 100Degrees i have chenged the thermal past and everything nothing seem to work

so this one will fit my g card rite?

All 8800GTs are like that. My card came with this Zalman cooler on it and nowadays it idles on 58c and settles on 93c on heavy load. You're card (like mine) is probably just clogged with dust and probably needs fresh thermal paste.

You guys are totally deviating from the topic please tell me whether the cooler will fit my 8800gt or not ?

as i said i have already removed the heat sink and cleaned it thoroughly and appplied Arctic cooling MX-2

and the temps went by just 2 degress

Iam not asking whether its worth it or not!!

In the newegg link under the details tab it lists 8800(G80) and I think your alpha dog card has the same layout as any other 8800gt. So I think you should be ok.

Hmm the thing is mine is a G92 but people have used the cooler even on a gts250 if you go buy the comments given in AMAZOn

can some one give me more input on this

Hi i did a little bit of googling. The very first site was on the zalman's.

http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=283 Look under bullet point 5. It clearly says it can be fitted on 8800GT and GTS (G92)explicitly mentioned. I think you can go for it.

My card never exceeded 55 to 60 degree celcius on the alpha dog stock cooler. I think you would need to have a better airflow case.

Secondly spending 36$ on a card which is pretty much at the end of its life is not worth, tats my personal thought.

Ok now thats the kinda reply i was waiting for thank you i have put an hold on the Cooler purchase

I allways keep my side door open so that there is plenty of air flow inside my case i make sure that the heat from my GC does not stagnate

any how kishore YGPM

75 is a bit too much, 60-62 is fine. Dust the cooler, it makes a huuge difference. I dont think you need a new cooler. Also use rivatuner OR msi afterburner to crank up the fan speeds.

You need to redo the paste, the paste must have hardened and possibly thats whats causing high idle temps as well. Try removing the cooler cleaning it and putting some decent TIM on it if that doesnt give you results then maybe getting an aftermarket cooler is the only option. Something like TX 2 or TX 3 will be just fine.
