Hi All,
I have a strange problem in Win 7 64 bit edition. My C drive (windows drive ) keeps getting full even though I have not installed any softwares or programs in the drive. My space for the drive is 30GB and I make it a point to install softwares etc in another driver. The space keeps fluctuating between 2 GB to 300 MB. I am not understanding why ?
I have used Avira and Comodo and none detects any virus. Also the the total folder size of all the stuff comes out to be around 21 GB. Where is the remaining 9 GB.
Thanks for any suggestions
Regards
Raj

hidden files like pagefile and hybernate files in root dir takes a lots of hidden space.
Try these-
1-download and install Ccleaner, runit.
2-run disk defragment tool.
3-go to tools> folder options>view , select show hidden files n folders, uncheck "hide system files"
now u can see system files in c drive,

Windows 7 occupies space for many of its features like Search Indexing, Hibernation, Pagefile, Windows Update Backups, Temporary files, Office Backup Files and so on...

Do the below once in a while to free up space if required:

1. Go to Computer Properties - Advanced System Settings - Advanced tab - Performance Settings - Advanced - Virtual Memory - Disable the paging file and restart and then enable it again.

2. Disable hibernation to gain around 3GB

3. Office Backup files takes about 1GB. It will be there as MSO cache on ur C:

4. Disable Search Indexing from Control Panel

5. Right Click on ur C: and go to Disk Cleanup - Delete Temporary files and other junk. Dnt delete thumbnails.

6. Go to System Protection in Computer Properties and disable System Restore. And then again enable it rightaway. U will gain some GBs here.

After all this, you would definitely have gained a lot of space. If not, post back with the results.

Hope it helps :)
