Winamp - help required

I use winamp as my default media player and i use it just like AV means all the time. Along with winamp i use a plugin - enhancer. My OS is Win 7 Ult x86.

The problem is that the enhancer plugin works only when winamp is run in administartor mode means everytime i play a song i will have to click on "Yes" in the UAC dialog box, which is pretty painful:(. And when winamp is run in normal more, enhancer starts with a pop up "Can't access registry" but still i can use enhancer but i have to set it to the previous preset condition :(, which is another painful story.
BTW i am using the latest version of winamp

So guys please help me.

Have you tried disabling UAC??

Control Panel > User Accounts and Family Safety > User Account > Change User Account Control settings

Set the Slider to Never Notify Me...

^thanks, i know that but i don't want to change the whole UAC setting just for one application. Is it possible to change only the setting for winamp while keeping UAC working for other application??

Yes. That is also possible. :D

To do that, first locate the winamp executable. Go to C > Program Files > Winamp > Here you'll see winamp.exe

Right Click on winamp.exe and go to Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and under Privilege Level, check the 'Run this Program as an administrator' checkbox. Apply and OK.

You are Done... :ohyeah:

I know that, and i have done that, but every time winamp starts UAC dialog box appears :(. What i want is to run winamp as administrator without the UAC message.

Ohh... My bad... I misunderstood ur query a bit... :ashamed:

In that case, you should use UAC Trust Shortcut. It is a small nifty program that creates shortcuts for trusted programs for you & these shortcuts allow the programs to run without UAC.

Try running the UAC Trust Shortcut program as Administrator and then try to add Winamp.

@neha, thanks mate that worked but....not how i wanted. Actually that program creates a shortcut on the desktop with administrative rights, and when i start winamp with that desktop shortcut it works :), but when i again click on an audio file another winamp starts and....:@

Anybody please help me..please

please help me out, guys
Try this:

Open Winamp and go to Options > Preferences > General Preferences and see if the Allow multiple instances checkbox is checked.

If it is checked, uncheck it, click Close and restart Winamp. Hope this help.

umm okay this is a longshot. but try this.
Uninstall the setup, then reinstall it, but while reinstalling, right click on the setup file and say run as administrator. n then install it. and see if it works. i doubt itz a winamp problem tho. I've been using it for ages now. never had UAC conflicts with it. It's probably something else that is installed that is causing this.
