guys i need to know which is the most power efficient 1.5 ton window a/c that can be run 24/7.. maximum will be off for 1 hour in a day.. sometimes will be needed to run 2-3 days straight..

But the maximum rest it will get is like 1 or 2 hours a day..

right now we have a carrier 1.5 ton durakool window that does the job and does it very well but just costs too much too run !!! now i am looking for the most power efficient one.. $$ is no issue..

this a/c alone is adding a lot of $$ per month in the power bill easily..

so yeah. which is the most power efficient 1.5 ton window a/c ?

thanks in advance guys

^^ AFAIK only split a/c's have 5 star rating. Best I have seen is 3 star for carrier estrella ... i have both durakool n estrella at home and estrella also runs very quiet in comparison.

I have 3 hitachi's installed at my place. They have good cooling.

Dunno about power consumption, but when I bought em, everyone said they consume less electricity compared to all others.

install two ac's and run them in 12hr shifts. maybe being on continuously puts a burden on the compressor and hence the huge bills.

^^ my thoughts exactly.. but what if he doesent have enuf space on his windows?? neway i have a hitachi 1 ton window ac.. and its really cool... the ac guy even told me that itll consume lot less than other ac's ....donno if hes right or not as ive got all hitachi..

Do consider Mumbai (Reliance elec.) power charges one of the HIGHEST in India. So go with maximum power saving i.e. Split AC. If you check your electricity bill will found that after exceeding some limit the power charges are just double. Take in to consideration all these things (Power saving must)

Agreed...Reliance after dhirubhai have become the biggest chor in monopoly type market...after they become leader or ppl dont have option

Their first light bill was -ive...suggesting old BSES was looting u...than so low bills till few months.....Than till last year they used to show whole year per month consumption plus the bill rates......Than i came to know even after using 20-50 units less than last year in same month...i was paying 100-200 buks more.....And now they only show units....ull feel now u used less units.....but still again u r fooled..ALso the cost of crude has come down still they increased per unit fuel adjustment charge instead of reducing to double(59 to 116 paise per unit i guess)

SO its better to stick with best eer rating model in mumbai and if with reliance.....

recently purchased a voltas 1 ton split... it cools like crazy within 20 mins running at 24.

the only issue was voltas didnt have units to send to customers and there was a backlog so took 1 week to deliver but its has the highest efficiency rating. costs around 21000.

hello everyone :)

thanks soo much for all the killer help...

ok i cant install 2 window a/c's lol no space..

The hitachi quadrakool line looks very nice..

just strange that there are no star power ratings for the window a/c's on hitachi's site.

Splits all have star power ratings listed.. !!

if i do go for a split.. which is the most power efficient ? or once we are in the 5 star rating range of a/c's they all consume about the same ?

sorry for all the questions guys..

right now my monthly bill is coming to over 15K so im getting Screwed !!! lol

cheers and thanks guys :)

hitachi ace cutout will be good at 1.5tr. dont buy old models ( of any brand) because the star ratings are actually supposed to reduce by one every year. this hitachi model has 3.25 eer iiirc.

but i doubt if any AC would run well for that long working cycles. what is the temperature you need to maintain?
