Hi,
I was wondering if when we buy either version 32 / 64 bit do we get both (or at least licenses for either and maybe get to order the other version discs free)?

TIA

What about the OEM? Do we get both with it?

You cannot buy OEM licenses. Those are meant for computer manufacturers like HP, DELL, Lenovo, Acer etc. Those are not sold to the public.

If you are talking about the disks that are bundled with laptops/PC s sold by manufacturers, then you will have to talk to the manufacturer customer care. I dont have any idea.

As far as I know, the disks that are bundled with the PC/Laptops dont have serial numbers separately. Those are the auto configured install disks. Just pop in the disc, sit back and relax.
The discs that came with HP PC's bought by 2 of my friends around 2 years back were like this. One had XP and the other had Vista.

You get to pick either x64 or x86 for OEM I think, at least that's what I was told. Prices are the same.

Bought 7 home premium retail a couple of days ago so the retail bit I'm sure about. You get both discs if your OS version is home premium or higher.

Besides retail was only 500/- or so more than OEM. I'm using it on a netbook and people had issues with OEM activation on some netbooks.

Though OEMs are meant for manufacturers, technically it can be sold along with components if I am not wrong. In fact, OEM is being sold separately by reputed dealers too. I have been using XP OEM for more than four years. It is said to have limited number of re activation choices but I have reinstalled and reactivated several times. Only when I had upgraded almost all components, I had to resort to telephonic re activation. But now planning to buy retail version of Win 7, cost difference being little.
