Hi,
Currently on Windows 7 RTM and have another laptop connected to my router and was getting lot of errors in the Event Viewer with Event ID 2017 so I google around and found a few articles, in one of them it was suggested to increase the value of "Size" in the LanmanServer Parameters to 3, it was at 1 default, after making it to 3 noticed that PC has become more responsive, overall a little bit faster, just my thoughts...
