windows 7 screen flickering disorder!!!

i am having sort of a wierd problem.. i am running a 6950 2gb with an older tft lcd 17 inch with vga input. Now the problem i face is that the screen keeps flickering that is the desktop appears for a fraction of a second and then the window reappears.. this problem increases on using adobe after effects and playing solitare:(

I have updated drivers,fresh installed drivers, manually set the refresh rate, installed all the optional updates.. and i can find no solution.. kindly help..
 
Check that there is no magnetic device kept near the monitor as CRTs are much affected by magnetic devices (speakers too).
