Hi,

I am facing a problem with installing Windows 7 on my PC. Namely, the setup doesn't move beyond the Windows logo. The "copying files" screen is shown, the 2-coloured logo is formed, and then bam - total blackness. And's it not like it's only gotten slow or something... I've waited for hours but it doesn't movie ahead.

I have tried multiple discs. I have tried USB. It doesn't work. I tried Fedora, Ubuntu and Windows XP. All worked. I ran a test via MemTest... no errors were detected.

So what is going on here? Can anyone help me? Really missing Windows!

Sounds like graphics card issue. Make sure you are using VGA display output. After installation install graphics card driver and then use DVI display output.

I am sorry I don't understand. I'm kind of a noob in such matters and don't get all the technical terms. Right now my PC is connected to my TV (<--which I use as a monitor) via a DVI connection which is plugged into my graphics card. You want me to...?

do you have any VGA display port in cabinet??
Connect cabinet/CPU directly to monitor using VGA port.

Yes, I have a VGA port on my cabinet. I removed by Graphics Card, plugged into my cabinet's VGA port and booted with the Windows 7 disc. It still stopped at the same stage :(

You always installing on the same HDD. Try a different one. Also try one RAM stick at a time. Alternate. You will need to isolate the faulty component.

Gigabyte mobo? May be the AHCI/IDE bug. Go to your Bios settings and change Sata settings from AHCI to IDE or try to preinstall AHCI drivers.

Yes this happened to me too, This is what i did atleast.. may differ person to person.. system to system

1. Removed GPU

2. removed RAM Sticks but one to install.

3. Had to remove HDDs but one to install

Try these and update us. please

Windows 7 creates a list of all the Hardware peripherals connected at the time of installation so in all probability it is having a hard time trying to figure out the native resolution of your TV to get the display, 7 had WDDM drivers for all GFX and generic moniters at the time of release BTW. Just try connecting to a moniter CRT/LCD and and use only 1 HDD, the one that you need to install the OS on.
