PC takes a long time to POST
When I turn the power button on, here's what happens.
PC takes a long time to POST. Cant seem to change the title of the topic
Problem 1:
Fans turn on
DvD writer etc come on etc
But the screen shows 'No Display found'
Now if i leave it on for say 5-10mins or so. The pc boots up. Earlier, like a normal pc it used to boot up fast. Now have to wait.
I also noticed for several days that the windows clock timing was off [which after googling around indicated that the CMOS battery was weak]. I changed it. No effect. Timing is still haywire.
How do I get rid of the boot up and the timing problem....
I have done a memtest etc. No errors found. My motherboard is on this link. I have updated bios etc
GA-MA78LMT-S2 (rev. 1.0) - GIGABYTE
Today what I did was remove the keyboard wire and lo, the pc booted normally. So is it time to go for a USB keyboard. Would it make a difference???
Problem 2:
Unidentified network problem.
I have a DLINK GLB 502t modem with MTNL triband.
Have tried both CAT5 and CAT6 cables. Dint make a difference..
If you go to windows compatible routers or modem routers on the microsoft site, its not there. I have been using this for the past two years on so. Could this be a problem for the unidentified network.
I had assigned a static ip on the lan properties, but removed it after I changed to the bridge mode. After I updated lan drivers from the motherboard site, seems this problem is laid to rest.
What do you guys do other than press the cross mark and let it diagnose itself?
If I want to get rid of the DLINK and get a wireless modem router [like one of the belkin ones] and still use the telephone, Can I use a telephone line splitter.... With the main line attached to it and from the two ports, do the following..
to attach one line to the modem router
other to the telephone
Intelligent guess would be yes , would it.
Too many questions. Thanks for the help...
Dont know if the following is important, but here's a summary of my pc:
