Windows 7 (Ultimate) wont detect onboard sound on MSI i845G motherboard

Hi,

I upgraded fom windows XP(SP3) to windows 7 Ultimate. Everything else was detected and installed automatically, except for the onboard sound.
Here's the config:

CPU: Intel P4 2.8 GHz
Motherboard: MSI i845G (intel chipset)
RAM: 1GB

I tried searching for the drivers on the intel and MSI websites, both scan and say mainboard drivers are uptodate, but no luck with enabling the sound.

Any ideas ?

Just curious but was it a clean installation? What is the audio chip on the board? Perhaps Win 7 doesn't install drivers for that chip, considering the platform is a bit old and outdated. You may have to download it from the chip's site.

Rather not to use scanning utilities to check for drivers. Pull them off MSI's website. I guess any 845G should work.

Yes, it was a clean install. Win7 cannot find it over the internet, Both intel and MSI websites do not list any seperate drivers only for sound. Have motherboard drivers, but Win7 will not load the drivers for some odd reason.

Its realtek I beleive from the drivers last intalled when I had win XP.
