Hi all,

I am facing some weird silly issue. If i try to install XP after installing windows 7 (formatting 7) my C drive (main OS partition) renames itself as D and vice versa. I am unable to change the names of the partitions once XP is installed. Seeing the main OS partition as a "D" one is annoying. Any idea why this happens?

TIA.

Actually the 15GB partition is the main OS one which is suppose to be C and it is C when i am in windows 7.

Ignore my dirty screen, a n00b friend likes to show me stupid things on the net pointing out / touching lcd with his oily fingers :@

I just figured this out yesterday. I deleted all my partions and use win 7 disc to create new partion from within the setup.

Now eachtime u do that , 7 creates a extra partion ( in my case it was 100MB partion) and names it as system partion.

So if u will make 2 partion , ur drive will actually have 3 partions ( + 1).

But from within windows u only c 2 partions that u have created.

U can check with a HDD partion utility about this !!

cheers . Hoped it helped !

I know about that 100 mb thingy.... i have no idea how it is related.... i've already done a full formate of the entire hdd and made seperat 15GB partition but still no clue...

Just select the option of delete partition and then select the unallocated partition to install windows . Thats it.
