IE->tools->internet options
then goto: programs->manage add-ons
seek for Windows Genuine Advantage, and disable it.

MAN...Its not so easy... I dont have the Windows Genuine Advantage Add-on showing in the IE internet options list and when I tried to load IE7 it started the process of WGA.

I saw a hack at a known site and this involves deleting all cookies and the cache and rebooting and then overwriting a dll file and then once again deleting all cookies and the cache and rebooting and only then it is done with WGA.

MS must be aware of the javascript hack by now and so dont know how long tht will work.
i hve the LegitCheckControl.dll which u have to put into your machine's system32 folder. it disables the WGA check. dont know if its correct to post in TE. so if anyone wants it...just pm me.

Microsoft "Genuine Advantage" Anti-Cracker Cracked

Web blog 'Boing Boing' is reporting that less than 24 hours after it's release, Windows Genuine Advantage has been "cracked" by a simple javascript exploit.

AV sez, "This week, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update. This effort to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.' It was cracked within 24 hours."

Several sites are already displaying this workaround.

There are 2 more ways to get around it:
Disable in IE

Patch Windows
First Technique (Disable in IE):
1 - Open IE;
2 - Click on Tools;
3 - Click on Internet options;
4 - Click to the Programs tab;
5 - Click on the Manage Add-ons button;
6 - Select Windows Genuine Advantage;
7 - Click Disable;
8 - Done, now you can do Windows updates again.
or

window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all'

While in WindowsUpdate, before pressing 'Custom' or 'Express' buttons paste this text to the address bar and press enter:
javascript:void(window.g_sDisableWGACheck='all')
It turns off the trigger for the key check.
Second Technique (Windows Patch):

Put the file LegitCheckControl.dll into your machine's system32 folder.

Download it from here:
Code:

http://cablemodem.fibertel.com.ar/dieg00/legitcheckcontrol.rar

or

http://rapidshare.de/files/3487020/LegitCheckControl.zip.html

or

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=37YR5KKT

Note: Both Methods worked for me 100%, although I will recommend the second one because Microsoft is already aware of this workaround under IE!

Genuine Windows Validation fixed

Microsoft has updated the Windows Genuine Validation tool to circumvent the hack exposed last week that allowed the system to be bypassed with a snippet of JavaScript code. The Validation is now a two-step process that first generates a code and then has you copy and paste that code to complete the process.
Well guys its all over and done with...........
