Windows windows hangs after Motherboard replacement

Got a RMA replacement from ASUS for my motherboard. Win 8.1 OS loads fine. But hangs very often even for and the response after hang takes 5-10 mins.

I have not reinstalled the OS. Everything else works fine, except this hanging issue. What could be the cause?

Same model and BIOS update level? Go into BIOS settings and see nothing unusual has been enabled/disabled.

Have you plugged in all your devices in the same slots/order as they were before?

Try the Windows "reset" or "refresh" option whichever one preserves your apps and settings, if that doesnt work:

Try booting a linux live CD and see if that is stable, if that is stable then just reinstall Windows.

the assembling part is always done by the service guys, as I have not yet learnt it. Motherboard is same model. Unsure about the BIOS update level.

Are you able to try Linux Live CD to see if that is stable?

Just reinstall Windows I feel. How sure are you about the motherboard being the same model?

There could be bad sectors present on your HDD. That might be causing the hanging issue. Run CHKDSK and see are there any bad sectors on your HDD. Also, open Eventviewer (type eventvwr.msc in RUN) and see if any critical issues are listed in System and Application log under Windows Logs folder. Using that log file you may be able to see the component which is causing the issue.

May I know the model of the motherboard you have?. This should not happen but what I feel is sometimes this may happen due to the change in the hardware id in the replaced motherboard. This is only my opinion.
Can't suggest much before the o/s is reinstalled. So go ahead and reinstall the O/S.

Thanks guys for the answers. But actually I ended up giving the motherboard to service center again, as there was flickering problem after 10-15 mins, and after 1 hour or more the display goes totally absurd with only multi colored lines... the service center guy said it can be a chipset issue...
