Microsoft has reportedly introduced Beta versions of the Windows Live Search service and the new search homepage, Live.com, across Asia-Pacific, as part of the company's move to tap 33 new markets around-the-globe.

The service features an innovative new user-interface, and rich and powerful organizational tools designed "to place control firmly in the user's hands". The company says that with the new service, consumers across Asia-Pacific can enjoy Windows Live Search as part of the Live.com experience.

Speaking about the service, Alex Stewart, regional director - MSN and Windows Live business (Asia Pacific), Microsoft, said, "Outside of email, Search is the most popular online activity in Asia. It has become a universal part of the Web, and yet there is huge potential in terms of what it can deliver for Asia s netizens".

"We are thrilled to be launching the Windows Live Search and Live.com betas in Asia. These services are our strategy's core, and we believe that the innovations unveiled today will deliver an outstanding level of power and simplicity of search".

Windows Live Search features a new, user-friendly interface, and simple precision tools such as search preview, a detail slider bar that increases the level of result information on the results page, and smart-scroll that enables people to view search results without moving from page-to-page.

Live.com is the fast, customizable search home page for Windows Live, and includes features such as the ability to add persistent search results to the Live.com home page, ability to subscribe to Rich Site Summary (RSS) feeds directly from search results, and the ability to view search results in the advanced contextual format.

Consumers can also create multiple pages based on their interests, and add their favorite news, photos, and weather content from millions of information sources and RSS feeds.

Live.com is available in beta form at Windows Live. Windows Live will be offered alongside MSN. Indian users can log on to Windows Live.
