That’s right! Windows Vista can run using a total of zero system memory. Well, bear with me, it will all make sense in the end. When it first introduced Windows Vista, Microsoft faced criticism because of the system requirements associated with the new platform. And the truth of the matter is that Vista is nothing short of a resource hog. The latest operating system from the Redmond company will eat right through CPU cycles, and will swallow every last bit of Random Access Memory you can throw at it. Vista will hesitate little to consume all the resources at its disposal in order to deliver the high-end performance level and user experience synonymous with the Wow.

I agree Vista is Faster and smoother than XP but its the compatibility with other applications and some hardware is still an issue nearing resolution though.....

Vista is fast ONLY if you have modern and capable hardware !! Even on relatively new hardware,it crawls to death !!!

The deciding factor for vista's performance is RAM. Even on an anicient CPU like the P4, 2/1GB >>>> 512MB. Just throw 2GB in the box and see the result...as for the effects like Aero, well, if you want to run Vista, a half decent onboard graphics like the 6100 will do.

I have been using Vista for over a month and so far it has not dissapointed. No crashes and is as fast as xp would be on the same hardware. Systems with less than a GB ram will struggle on Vista.

You do not need a c2d or am2 socket processor for Vista to run well. A single core processor with a midrange dx9.0c GPU and a GB of ram will do the trick.
