Windows Vista vs Windows XP for Gaming

im thinking of upgrading to windows vista but as it turns out im supposed to be satisfied using windows xp to play games because of the better performance. i still cant help but think about what performance and graphical differences i'd experience if i 'upgraded' to windows vista. im really confused and im sure theres alot of people out there who might have the same problem so heres a poll to see which operating system is better for gaming and whether people using windows xp should upgrade to windows vista.

suppose i get 45 fps on high settings in crysis, what would my fps be at the same settings in windows vista in 64 bit mode ?
 
...if you want to use Dx10 and have about 4gb ram then I would recommend Vista SP1 x64. Also consider if your GPU is good enough to game in Dx10 and supports Dx10 which in your case a 9800GT is just about there.

Else XP is leaner OS if you know what I mean by "leaner"
 
well IMO .. my game used to lag in Vista but it was fine in XP ..now after SP1 vista i better ..just make sure u disable tha annoying services like "superfetch" and many like this .. i hav finally shifted to vista for gaming after sp1
 
I was on Vista but now on XP, and i feel for cards like 9600GT, XP is better than Vista for crunching the max out of the card.

I get a few extra fps in XP than in Vista at 1280x1024.

Someone with a 9800GTX mite still have enough framerates to play smoothly at any resolution, so Vista should be good enough.

Like they say, "The more u feed to Vista, the more performance it will give back" :)

ive played Crysis on the same machine with VISTA then i formatted n used XP

XP is best !!!! ..... the game looked smoother !!! + used some tweaks to get the DX10 stuff on XP ........ which was so easy 2 do !!

and it looked GORGEOUS !!!!!

vista is the best for dx10.just turn off services like search etc.we can see graphical differences visually in a game like crysis
 
I dont know but I had tried Vista Pre SP1, and was amazed at how shitty the OS really was..

Anything thing I did was asked twice "whether I am sure or not" may be that retarded service could be turned off, but why keep it on by default !! Anyways I dont have a powerful Dx 10 gfx card, so I guess will give Vista a complete miss and join in Windows 7 ;)
