Who says??

I have been burning my XP SP2 CD image using Nero,IMGBurn to DVD-R, DVD+RW and all of them boot fine without any additional hiccups.

Must be your CD image which is faulty.

When you create an image of your WinXP CD, make sure it's a Bootable ISO image. I think, you can use MagicISO or UltraISO to take a bootable image of your WinXP CD.

OP download imgBurn, make an ISO on hdd, burn that on DVD using imgburn. No use using alcohol for simple task like this.

Follow this steps to create a bootable XP DVD from xp cd.

1. Copy all the files on cd to folder

2. There must be Nero installed in your OS.

3. Then download a file "xpboot.bin" which you can find in googling around 2 KB.

4. Start nero and in DVD section select bootable DVD.

5. In boot option select Image file as xpboot.bin file.

6. In Kind of emulation select No Emulation and number of load sectors as 4.

7. Select all the files in the folder to root folder of copy section.

8. Just Burn it and enjoy your bootable XP DVD.
