Windows XP sound problem

I am using the on board sound right now, its a Realtek ALC888. The latest drivers for the same are installed in Windows XP.

The problem is when I play songs using foobar2000 utilizing ASIO4All, the songs stutter. This happens only when the CPU usage tends to rise, mostly when the it hits 30-40%. This does not occur when watching HD rips.

Thermal throttling is on, but the CPU is barely hitting 35C. OC is off right now and Intel Sidestep is on. I did not notice the same problem when I was using Vista.

I have ordered the X-fi Titanium which will come in a couple of weeks, but in the meantime this problem is rather annoying. Does any one know of a solution?

Route your audio using DirectSound instead of ASIO4All.

I had popping and stuttering with almost all onboard audio solutions when using that driver.
