Windows XP SP2 to SP3 upgrade error

I recently upgraded my Mobo & CPU so had to install the OS again with SP2 CD

When i try to upgrade from Windows XP SP2 to SP3 i get the following error
c:/windows/system32/dllcache not found error when the computer is backing up the files before upgrading

Please advise the solution if any
