actually happens what when a wireless network comes withing the range of wifi it shows a balloon which reads"one or more wireless networks are in range of this computer ."
but mine shows "unable to connect to wireless network":(

help me guys it's urgent

Connect your Acer to the router manually using an ethernet cable. The internet should start working. Now type in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and you will be asked for an username and password. In most cases the default username and password is "admin" and "password" respectively.

You can also enter the details from the list provided here:
Netgear default passwords

Unless your uncle has changed these default settings for security reasons or any other purpose you should be able to enter the router settings and modify or check them out. If he has changed them then this trick won't work.

sorry but people please just only reply if you really know what youa re talking about? Firewall and all... and the suggestions ar ejust funny!

Just login to your router from one of the computers that are working fine. Go to wireless settings and just change the wireless channel no from Auto to 6 or 9 or 11 or something. Dont 4get to save and reboot after this.

Also dont use WEP unless you have old XP or old Wifi card. As wep is easily hackable / crackable, its recommended to use WPA encryption and keep your network hidden. But dont use WPA if you have older version of XP (SP2) or older wifi cards which are not compatible with WPA or if you are not sure that if they are compatible or no.
