wireless router has default MTU 1454. Shall I change the Value?

I have a belkin "G" wireless router connected from broadband(BSNL) modem.

pppoe dialer in the wireless router is used. in the configuration web interface, it shows default MTU as 1454. Is this value normal? I thought for pppoe dsl it is 1492.

Also, if I change MTU in Router, do I need to change lan card interface MTU also changed to the new value?

Are you facing any trouble with your connection, If not. Then leave it as it is. Why fix something that ain't broken

yes, 1492 is ideal but it doesnt matter much in my experience

It would depend on what the ISP is using in the backbone.

These days i would assume it will be all ip network's,but since its BSNL I'm not willing to take my chances

I've set MTU 1492 in router and in lan interface(eth0). but from google search results, it appears 1454 or 1492 ..both are OK.
