Graphic Cards wits end with 6600gt oc

Hi all,

I recently acquisitioned a BFG 6600GT OC,

Which should bench in 3D mark '05 somewhere in the region of 3700.
However, I can not better a dissappointing 1412 points.

My PC spec is as follows:

V400DB motherboard
1 Gig RAM
AMD Athlon 2600+ (about 2.1Ghz true)

I have tried the following:

Check 128 agp aperture is set in bios

Roll back old driver

Us driver cleaner to completely remove old driver

add latest nvidia driver

Close all programs

set AA/AF to 0

resolution is a default 1024.

Latest motherboard driver.
I'm fed up. Nothing has worked. Would the CPU and board be holding me back, and have you any other suggestions?

I'm not terribly PC minded, however from what I gather it's

DDR PC2700 2X166MHZ (333)

I have now been told the CPU score is seperate to the graphics score?
 
It is different if you run the CPU Test in 3D mark 05.

The Graphics score is CPU dependent too.
 
i think there is some problem in the drivers .... i will suggest u to format and install OS again and try ..... anyways which drivers are u using ....

no way a 6600GT OC will score less than 3500 with 2600+ ......
 
Theres one simple thing u may have overlooked. The over 3k score is genrally done at 1024 X 768, and if you using different resolutions like 1280X1024 or 1600X1200 the score will be lower. If indeed the card is being benchmarked at 10X76.. then there is a problem somewhere. My FX5700Ultra does over a 1000 with some mild overclocking.
 
The card resolution is the one you stated, 1024 x 768.

The drivers are the very latest from NVIDIA themselves.

This tells me it's not the driver, and it's not the card itself.

So is it the motherboard/chip? it couldn't be anything else surely?
 
You have basically the same spec as me, I've even got 2X as much RAM as you, yet you bench twice as fast. I suspect the M/board or PSU is at fault then...
 
Yeah, your RAM is holding you back. You'll have to clean install your OS, reinstall Motherboard drivers and then bench again, this can be very painful indeed ;)
 
I have the same card (BFG 6600gt, AGP). But I don't have 3dmark 05 with me. I have the Aquamark3 benchmark s/w and if you want I'll run that benchmark and will give you the scores.

My config: Mobo is A8V dlx, CPU is A643200+ with 2X512 DDR400 (Corsair Value RAM) @2.5,3,3,8, 1T timings
 
your processor and ram are NOT limiting you, its some other problem. I have an athlon 64 2800+, 1 gb ram, xfx 6600gt 128mband i get a score of 3250 on default settings. have all the tests been ticked?

install 78.01 driver I think you have 81xx driver they are not so good for 6600

Sorry about that, that's what I got on a 9800 pro.
With the 6600gt and that cpu, you should score 3k+.

Also try 3dmark03 and see if you score around 7800, because 3dmark05 performance has been known to suffer with certain newer forceware versions without any effect on gaming performance.
 
I ran 3dmark03 sometimes back and my scores were in the range of 8400-8600. My config is given in my earlier post in this thread

I am going to give it a go in 3D mark '03 and see what my score is.

Do you think my PSU could be causing me problems? It's 300W.
 
300W is kinda low...but i think ur card gets all the power it needs or else it does show a low power warning..mine did once.
