WTF !!! What do you expect me to search for ? My exact post ?

I mean, if you have discussed this earlier, just help me out by posting a link to the old thread rather than being cheeky mate.

first of all superczar is right...you should search for wireless lan and you would have found suitable threads for yoour answer...
secondly post in correct section...this should go into Networking and Internet...

Just check the networking section and you would find answers..

My 2 naya paisa worth on this:

1st- generic discussions and issues like these will more often than not have been already discussed in any tech forum worth its salt..We already have a bunch of detailed threads and if i am not mistaken, even a tut on setting up a wireless network...

2nd- Practise what you preach...Who's acting cheeky here is anyboday's guess!

Being helpful and nice is not a part of nobody's job description here....

If someone is being nice to you, that's good..but if you want to stutter around with an attitude to boot, that's youir problem and not the other persons'

feel like adding a 3rd paisa

did the thought ever cross your mind that I wasn't your paid consultant on this thread :bleh:

Arrey yaar, if you know another thread, just gimme the damn link ! I DID try to look for one. Didn't know what to search for and got no suitable results.

All im asking here is whether i can use a WLAN card to share my net connection which i get via LAN.

Just a yes or no would do instead of all the yada yada yada...

Well, you have to use a Wi-Fi router for that.

I think there is another way in whcih you install a Wi-Fi card on your PC and then you can connect other Wi-Fi enabled devices of the comp is on.... But I am not sure abt that....

It's called an ad-hoc connection...

A little more politeness would have gonbe a long way,and you'd have got ur answer from someone by now for sure.......

Anyway, this time, won't ask u to search..here we go:

1- Assuming ur desktop is connected to the Internet through one network interface say N1 ,and the other network interface on ur desktop is the WLAN card, say N2..Your notebook has a internal/PCMCIA WLAN card, say N3..all network interfaces are up & working with the right drivers

2- N1 is connected to the net, so for N1, go to Network connections> N1>properties>Advance>Internet connection sharing, and enable it to allow N2 to use the net

3- go to network connections>N2>properties>TCP/IP

4- Assign manual IP of say 192.168.0.1, subnet mask 255.255.255.0 leave rest blank

5- go to the wireless connections tab on N2, click on add, give a new SSID (Name for WLAN) say TE, click on the checkbox at bottom (that says this is a wirleess peer-peer connnection, or sumthing similar)

6- Just leave the wep/WPA off for now, we can set it up later

7- Click ok

8- Now go to notebook, N3

9- Go to network connections>N2>properties>TCP/IP

You can either leave it at default (Automatic IP config) , or assign a manual IP of say 192.168.0.2

Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

gateway=192.168.0.1

DNS server=192.168.0.1

10- Go to wireless networks tab, and refres/search for wireless connection..now u should see the network with SSID TE here, (if u don't, it means u haven't specified TE as a peer-peer/ad-hoc network in the wirelessconnection tab on N2)

11- double click TE, click on OK in the new dialog box....

Enjoy the net connection and network sharing on the note book :hap2:

Done.

But how do i share the net and foders now that both comps are connected ?

(Bought a Linksys card for 2050 from Computer Empire ...)

you just enable ICS on the host PC....

Unless...unless you ISP uses 24online client as the login client in which case ur story gets complicated

But dont i need to bridge them or something ?

Coz as of now, ive connected both the comps, but have absolutely no idea how to share files/net ...

2- N1 is connected to the net, so for N1, go to Network connections> N1>properties>Advance>Internet connection sharing, and enable it to allow N2 to use the net

Thats' all you need to do :P

Both the comps are connected, but i cant ping, nor can i share any files or net ...

When i go to my network places, i see the other comps name, but cant do anything ..(warning pops up when i double click) ,,
