Morphing from a Geek to a Nerd
Innovator
Well resurrecting a dead project of mine .....

Started it in 2007... Was not able to complete it as I lost track of everything in life :( .... Dont know what the hell I did for past 3 years but I need to get everything in my life back on track and this project represents something far more than just a cabinet mod...

Ok enough of the my sentimental dialogues lets talk about the project now.

Project : Resurrection

History : Started as this Worklog : Project : XXXXXXXXXX and went dead after a few months of work

Took the frame out from the store room and cleaned the dust and dirt sticking to the frame ....

Condition from store room : Day 1

Planned purpose : HTPC cum media server rig for 24/7 operation

Hardware planned to be used with the project

1) Motherboard : Palit N73V ( Geforce

2) Processor : E4500 2.2 Ghz at Stock

3) Ram Corsair Value 667 Mhz Set 2 x 1Gb

4) Video Card Nvidia XFX Geforce 8600 GTS 512MB DDR3

5) Sound card : Asus Xonar DS 7.1

6) Storage : 500 x 3 in Raid 5 ( Hoping for Nvidia Media Storage to work) or 500 X 2 in Raid 1 and additional HDDs

7) TV Tuner : Hauppauge PVR 150

8) CPU Cooling : Coolermaster TX3

9) Cooling fans : Coolermaster 200mm, Arctic Cooling 80 X 2, Cooler master 80mm and Thermalright 80mm

10) PSU ?

11) HDD Bay – Cooler Master 4 in 3 Device Module

12) Optical Drive : Lite On BD Rom 4x

13) Networking : One USB Wifi adapter G D-Link

14) LCD Panel : A USB to LCD interface with a HD44780 40 x 4 Display or a Parallel to LCD interface …. Will make a step by step guide for the same

Hardware Planning

2 PCI Slots for the Xonar DS and the PVR 150

PCIe 16x For 8600 GTS

Left is 1 PCI ex 4x - Expansion Options (Free)

4 SATA Slots – 3 for HDD and 1 for Optical Drive

2 RAM Slots of 2 x 1 Gb RAM

1 Free PATA Slot ( Might Use a 80 GB Drive )

1 LPT1 for the LCD Display ( Might go for a USB-Serial-LCD link but a Parallel Communication might be better suited )

Wow- nice effort. :)

Should we call this Ronnie's Skeleton? :P
I will stick with Resurrection only.....

Will build a Skeleton one day and it wont be like a Antec Skeleton :P

The Ahmedabad meet will never happen! I have been trying to make it happen for over a year since I came to Ahmedabad.

Btw you happen to know anyone who can do powder coating for a computer cabinet in Satellite/ SG Highway area? I am trying to mod a 5 year old Chieftec cabinet. There's no one who can do powder coating in my area and I have never been to Vatva/Naroda/Dariyapur and don't want to go all that far. I could alternative go to a garage near my house where I can get it painted with Automobile High Gloss Paint. I got some cans of Bosny High Gloss paint to do some custom paint jobs myself.

You wont believe it. I actually visited your profile a couple of days ago and checked the thread started to see if you have done something recently.

BTW do you still have the bot you made in the college?
