ummm....did the VCore mod....will do the VMem mod later...i cant stop my hands trembling :ashamed:

man...were my hands trembling :O THIS STUFF IS NOT FOR NEWBIES!!!!!

to solder this one point, it took me more than 10 minutes..soldering once..then removeing it thinking it has shorted with the adjacent pin, etc tec..but got it right :D

here's my soldering station : nothing more than a solder rod, flucx and some solder....

SunMysore posted 15.38 minutes later:

Fired the solder rod for the Mem mods :D

SunMysore posted 28.7 minutes later:

muhuahahahaha....mem mod done...

forgive the blurr...but cant take better pics for some reason :S

this is the memory voltage measuring point ;)

here's the pic of the mobo after the soldering :

just soldering those wires to pots remain :D

BTW if u havent seen, i have painted the Proccy slot and the RAM slots red...bored of the same white colour :ohyeah:

Dude great work, one downer though:The Vcore and Vmem on the A7N8X isn't too low in the first place :1.85(1.9v actual) and 2.9v for ram(by editing the bios). So most of ur increase comes from the vdd mod(chipset voltage esp. if u want high fsb overclocks).

VDD mod..hmm...its too tough :ashamed: impossible to do by me.....

actually i wanted VCore 2.0V and VMem around 3.3V...so did this....

Sunny , Gr8 Guts u have bro.
I wud think twice , thrice or NTimes before trying such thing on my Mobo.

Well now how is the OCing now , wanted some oc updates with ur new modded mobo.

nope..gotta get the northbridge HSF drilled first...then comes the WC mounting :( will take time...

SunMysore posted 25.13 minutes later:

baaaah...major screwup.....

forgot mem needed 15K VR...i bought a 10K VR :S that wud catapult vmem to 3.4V staightaway :O damn.....

thank god i found it out before anything happened...hehehe

3.4 :S. With the mod is your voltage being fed of the 5V rail? Otherwise no way it'll get to 3.4.

HUH????

Sunny is saying it is too tough for him!!!!

Cummon!!! Nothing is too tough for you......... I guess you are the only one who actually V modded his mobo here on TE

Well there is a pencil mod for vdd.Tried it,seemed to improve my oc by 5-10 mhz.But since I don't have Ram that goes that high it was of academic interest only.

undertaker posted 14.48 minutes later:

BTW sunny can u link to the mod for powering cpu off 12v rail?

Pencil the r628 resistor adjacent to the second pci-slot and see if it lowers in value.Do attach a hs to sb if u have not done so already coz voltages to both nb and sb increase in proportion.
Btw sunny ur link is fine but there is no image along it.The link for image doesn't work either.Post it if u got it bro.

^^^ Thanks :) will do that too.....

@undertaker : i'm waiting for replies on that forum...seems like a fake to me....

he suggests 10V caps, but he still has those 6.3V Rubycon caps on...smells fishy....

@undertaker : here ya go : (offtopic : u have a 2500+ too?? )

Mod complete :D :D :D taking it to my classmate's room tomorrow for some testing

Notice P and M . Turn P clockwise, VCore will increase. Turn M clockwise, Memory volts will increase :yahoo:

3.3V Hmm... OCZ GoldVX?? hehehe.....
am getting some Hynix D43 which requires something like 3.1-3.2V to run properly :ohyeah:

BTW tell me more about that pencil mod....
Dont even think of using 12V line on that coil.
The power circuit is not designed for 12V. it is designed for 5V input. this will lead to some very hot temps on the voltage regulators and eventually after a while some components will literally blow up.

and btw, You will need to change the caps to atleast 16V 3300(or greater) uf on the 12V rail.
infact if you attach the 5V line at the base of that coil then it would be more beneficial especially for those people who have a weak psu (300 watts etc...) where the 5V line dips drastically to 4.7 levels. This will improve the 5V supply to the circuit since at present the supply is derived from that 5V line on the 20 pin atx connector. if you follow the trace closely from the base of that coil it will lead directly to the 20 pin ATX connector. now this trace + the 20 pin connector itself has some resistance which lowers the 5V rail too. by connecting the 5V line directly you bypass these 2 resistive points which somewhat improves the supply to the cpu power circuit.
but since sunny you have a very powerful 5V psu (50A on the 5v) it should not affect you......
This trick i had informed masky about a year and a half ago when he had burned his zebronics psu on his same asus m/b.

I doubt he will remember all this now ......;) :ohyeah:

No I have a 2000+ Tbred-B.Have it at 2ghz i.e. 11x182.CBID shows it as 2507+ so thats what it is.CBID is usually accurate on the rating though.
DJ:A version of this power supply mod thing is to solder the 5v line directly onto the middle leg of the MOSFETS.Infact I tried this but didn't seem to offer much improvements. With my new psu constantly pushing out 5.2v I couldn't care less about it.
