Micromax holds the record for being the largest Indian domestic handset company, in terms of the units shipped during the quarter ended March 31, 2010 and the third largest mobile handset seller as on March 31, 2010. Adding one more feather to its cap of remarkable achievements, Micromax has announced the release of modu T - the world's lightest 3.5G touch phone - in India. The modu T holds a Guinness World Record, with a feather-weight of 55grams excluding the accessories or attachments. This product is a result of the joint association between Micromax, modu, Qualcomm and Aircel (official service carrier).

Was at the launch and used the phone briefly. Very nice concept (more here: Modu T and thoughts on future : Technology : Javed Anwer : TOI Blogs) but did not find Brew too impressive. Though Modu CEO said that Brew will be replaced with Android in their next phone.

Touchscreen is on slower side though the phone is really small and light... Jackets and build quality too need some polishing. For 12K, I will say stay away from it. Those who need a small and light phone can try SE X10 Mini.

55g? Wow! Micromax would have done this purely to get some publicity. They are beginning to take themselves seriously

watched some youtube videos related to this product, seems like the screen is really very small as compared to the 12k section,

Here is another phone @ the 12k price tag, Videocon Zeus, but surprisingly, it comes with Android 2.1, 5.0mp camera, GPS, 600mhz qualcomm processor and some other bla bla like capacitive multitouch screen,

Most of the cell phones are made in china ... even nokia or samsung :| ...
The nokia and samsung are made by their own plant in china, because they can get cheap labor, land and electricity in china. Everything is at par with their plants in any other nation.

Not that they outsource their phones from roadside shops in china, which is the case for all the indian vendors like micromax,. maxx carbon, lava, lemon and endless names now.
