I have a 5 year old plasma model - Panasonic TH-42-PV80D.
Sadly, it gave way and there is no display :( .
Gave it to service center. They say motherboard is done and not repairable.
New motherboard costs 13.5 k with 2 months warranty only. Panel has no issues according to them.

New TV's in the 42" range are between 35k to 50k. which is basically 3 times the cost of a new motherboard.
Unsure if a repaired TV can last me a few years more or just go in for a new TV.
The repair center is offering 5k to buy the old TV.

Has anyone got their LED's / Plasma repaired from service center and whats the outcome ???

I know someone who has a Panny plasma too and had to replace the mainboard a couple of months back after a power surge. It has worked well and he feels there's an improvement in picture quality as well. Maybe the panel was re-calibrated or the newer mainboard has better firmware.

Might be better for you to repair rather than upgrade, boards wont die on you unless there is some electrical outage. Having said that, you can possibly repair it and sell it and get another LED/Plasma, FYI, I remember seeing a 40" Samsung LED for 32k or so on eBay, dealer warranty though but then again might be worth the risk at the price point.
