40K+ Would it be dumb to exchange my S22 ultra for OP 12? (Getting 46k value)

Pretty much covered everything in the title.

My only concern is camera, not a big fan of One UI. and the battery is not that great on the 8gen1. But if camera is a downgrade i'll not go for it.

Also OP12 is cheaper on flipkart but i am getting the exchange value of 46k on OP website. there's just a 2k bank discount, would offline stores have better deals by any chance ? any other way to get a better deal with the same exchange value? The current price on op website is 65k -3k (including 2k discount + 999 referral discount?) -46k exchange value = 16k
Price on flipkart is 60k but don't see a exchange option...

I might get more than 46k for my s22 ultra if i try to sell on my own but i don't want to go through the hassle. Box and other stuff is at my hometown as well..

I have gone ahead and placed the order with the exchange and the thing is cashify will give 34k (assuming everything goes smoothly) and the rest 12k is going to come out of oneplus.

Anyways i was basically replacing pixel 7 pro with op12. op12 display quality is not great, easily noticeable while watching videos. This is in comparison with pixel 7 pro, iphone 13 pro, 15 PM, S24+. Ofcourse camera quality is not upto other phones i've, but that i was expecting before purchase itself. Unexpected thing was display quality and network coverage(+ve way). All these googles, apples, samsungs should learn from Oneplus on network management. Till i got OP12, i used thing network signal is very poor in my home because none of the phones in home handle calls properly, even wifi reception is poor in certain areas. But OP12 changed entire thing, even wifi reception is good all over the home. battery life is another big positive.

All in all, if camera and display quality is not that important, then this is very good phone. Again camera and display quality is not average either, just that i could find the different immediately since i use other phones.

When you say display quality, do you mean the brightness?

Also i have full circle looking up at issues....i just saw a twitter couple of days thread bashing the network coverage on the phone lol.

s23 base variant and his was a s22 ultra...not comparable really

I have been using the op12 for the past 4 months, and honestly, its a pretty good phone for the price. I don't get why everyone is bashing the cameras, they take excellent photos in good lighting conditions, much better than the contrasty processed looking photos I used to get from my pixel 6a. Sure it's not as versatile as the other flagship cameras, and the night mode is a hit and miss, but it's pretty good for the price. And the battery tech pretty much destroys the competition.

Saying that, there are some cons too... The curved screen will have ghost touches if you're using without a case. Using third party launchers will result in broken navigation gestures. Wired android is not working for me and a lot of other people as well. No ip68 rating. Only AI feature is the magic eraser (as of now)... But even with these, I think it's a great phone for the price.

Agreed, i am using the OP12 for last month and i have zero regrets. Yest the camera is not that good as a s22 ultra but the difference is minimal and outwieghs the improvements on other fronts.

yes op12 has excellent battery life also I assume, I just get disapponted why oneplus still not making IP68 phones whats stopping them?
except that its the perfect phone this year.

I think you should also consider the new Motorola Edge 50 ultra, not as much of beast in terms of battery life but you get double the storage for less price, better cameras, similar performance in real life and less heating issues also Hello UI is one of the cleanest android softwares out there. Here is a comparison video to help:

It's a gud device but forget software updates. Longevity of devices depends on many factors including software updates and security patches.

I have used years old android version phones with no security updates & never faced any issue. Android is not like windows where even a few months out of date installation is at some risk. As long as you stick to default/manufacturer rom & don't use root/install only good rated large user base apps from playstore there is almost zero chance of security issues even with years old android install.

The SOC on s22U will be a problem for any intensive task along with middling battery life after some usage. I think with the camera improvements and better display & battery the OP12 is a good option. Or as others have pointed out if can manage a upgrade to s23U with very little cost then that is worth considering too as 8 gen 2 is a gem.

I have never really looked forward to any android update that much since android 10, most of the time there are really minor changes and a few new things are added but there is nothing you really miss out on if you get the update 5-6 months after others.
