Write protect an existing partition on HDD

v.Na5h

Level F
Guys as the title says is there any way other than using the security tab/icacls/cacls or encryption etc to Write protect an existing partition on HDD...

For eg i want my E: drive (which contains movies & mp3) to be read only ie files cannot be modified nor deleted even with administrator privileges
BTW FS is NTFS

Remove the write permissions on the drive.
An admin can undo it, but writing to the drive won't be possible unless you go back to drive properties and re-enable the write permissions.

How to write-protect a hard disk.
How to write-protect a hard disk.
This should help yo.

Edit: @JuGGa: Thanks! Another admin would have the power to disable / enable the permissions. However, as per this post, if the changes are made from the built in Administrator account (which is hidden by default), that might do the trick and prevent other administrators from overwriting the changes made. I don't have a system to try and check this though.

^You should have read the OP and the link you provided more thoroughly. It's useless for OP as an admin user can always take ownership.

No, any admin account can undo the restriction. I have activated the hidden account on my laptop and have tried the same thing. The only difference b/w normal admin and hidden admin account is that the latter has got direct kernel access, at least as per what I know. I'll retry it but only after 5 days as I'm not having my laptop with me now.
