Looking for a 1650 or 1655 for a good price in Bangalore... in our last meet, someone mentioned they got a 1650 for 2.8k I think... can you PM/post details of which store?

Thanks!

Hey Rio,

In the last I actually bought the Benq 1650.I got it for 2500/- all inclusive frm Ankit Computers in S.P.Road.Abt the 1655,its not quite a good lightscribe drive.For lightscribe capability the Lite On model is better,anyway just my thought.The shop is just arnd 3-4th shop on theleft while entering S.P.Road.

:):) Just saw, celebrating my 100th post..the slowest 100 in TE taking almost 9 months:)

I don't need lightscribe, just a writer ;) Anyway, thanks guys... I'll check both these places and buy from whoever gives me a good deal. Reps to you!

Dude im not sure abt this but i think i read somewhere that Liteon has taken over Benq's optical drive section. So i think the availability issue may begin to prevail.

I forgot to add i couldnt find one in lammy road around a month ago, i dint look to hard cauz i was planning on buying it the next month.

LiteOn have taken over BenQ.... so maybe BenQ may be out of stock

@Rio --- That was me :P I bought a 1650 for 2.8K from Jayanagar C-Net.....

Lightscribe is a technology using which you can make labels and print them on Lightscribe compatible DVD media.

apart from the laser/lens which writes DATA onto the DVD, there is another laser kind of thing which prints on the upper side of the DVD.

So, say you make a backup of some original DVD you have, you can make a similar label and print it on the backup DVD so it looks exactly like the original.

For more info ---- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LightScribe

Basically Lightscribe as of now is too expensive and the Lightscribe compatible DVD blanks are also very few and expensive.

You cant make labels on ANY DVD media..... the media should also be compatible with LS
