70 % Music, 20 % Counter Strike , 10 % movies

Please suggest m confused got mixed reviews on the net ..

i'm not a shill but theres a m audio revo selling in te market that you can check out. will be excellent for music but you will sacrifice a few fps in games

if you are looking at auzentech , why not look at some of the newer products too like the x meridian, good for movies and music

x-meridien wud b over my budget i m not gonna spend more than 5k for scard.
x-fi gamer and x-plosion wud be fit in that price , not too sure abt revo though.
Also wt abt the driver support of Auzentech are they gd ??

x-plosion or xtrememusic. Avoid xtremegamer :p. The m-audio card in the market section beats both on pure sound quality.

Why avoid XtremeGamer? Would an higher audigy be better than the lower X-fi's?

Hey Chaos, I'm thinking of going for a new audio card, sometime about now. Can you explain what you meant in the quoted statement? If the m-audio revolution beats the others on pure audio quality, then what does it have going against it? Or rather, what do the x-plosion and x-fi have going for them?

^^No hardware acceleration on the m-audio. The x-plosion is a card to get in case you want 5.1 over digital/optical in games... i.e. Dolby Digital Live or DTS Live. If you want pure stereo music bliss, there's something more affordable and nicer than the m-audio cards as well.... the EMU 0404 or 1212M. The other more expensive way to get best of both worlds would be to get an x-fi and a stereo DAC. Use the analog outs for gaming on the x-fi and use spdif to the DAC for digital. This way you get fantastic music playback as well as good game performance.

lack of hardware acceleration merely translates into more CPU utilisation right? That's all right, I think. I can get by with a few fps less in games. Unless of course, I'm mistaken, in which you'll have to explain yourself further :p Thanks for the help anyway.

I'm particularly interested in the m-audio revolution 7.1 because Zipzoomfly is selling it here for 63$ which seems a steal!

[Blatant Plug] :p - The stock revo, which you get for ~$65, is quiet inferior in SQ compared to the x-fi or x-plosion. The Analog devices opamps on my card make a beeeg difference :D [/Blatant Plug]

damn I've already ordered it. :( At any rate, I wasn't keen on spending 100$ on a sound card. Anyhow, Can I get done what you've gotten done?

edit: keen, not keep :p

A> Its not $100 :p
B> I got it modded thru a friend, so I'm not aware of the how and the where
C> Sell your card to Rio and buy mine :D

xtrememusic is fine to catch, though i'd surely suggest to STAY AWAY from anything of m-audio as it doesn't work in MCE/Vista at all & will never work due to their pathetic driver support. If u state 70% music outage from the soundcard, buy the X-Meridian eyes closed. The sound on ur mx5021 will be no-match. & even in games & Xvids, the sound is so clear/crisp & thorough in detail, no sound card beats an X-meridian in its Analog output...
