Laptops X3100 enough to play HD movie on the DELL INSPIRON 1420

As the title say can the standard x3100 intel gpu play HD movies 1080p and 720p without hassles ? can any one confirm the same. the processor will be a C2D 2 GHZ with 2 gb ram . ???
 
It should work fine. 720p plays well on my celeron 1.5Ghz(coreavc). Please be aware that coreavc does not depend on graphics card, its only cpu related. I don't think appo is running ffdshow...
 
Don't except miracles from X3100.. It even doesn't Support
H.264 & VC-1..U can play movies at 720p that is coz of CPU which is taking of all work..
X3100 is crap in gaming aswell as HD playback..
If you are looking for laptop, go with ATI 3450 powered.

So his cpu can't play 1080p huh? Don't expect everyone to upgrade to a latest nvidia card or an Ati card just for HD playback. Why use GPU when you can have cpu playing your files :P? In fact most of the anime geeks use cpu and not gpu for HD playback :hap2:
 
X1300 will play but i wont suggest u buy lappy with X 1300 as dedicated GPU offloads the CPU all the time and picture quality is superior with GPU + little headroom for gaming. Specially ATI HD3450 has awesome pic quality + UVD.
 
no studio , 1420 inspiron and i personally played some 1080 p mkv stuff and it worked and thats good enough :D . even read the documentation says it will play fine.

i guess since apollyon himself tried and even i did on my other c2d toshiba that my bro uses. it should not be a problem i guess i will drop the gpu then and save moolha i dont wanna game anyways
 
lol , even a 1.4 and 1.73 c2d are able to play it easily i personally tried bone collector and conair at 1080p via a USB HDD on the 1.73 . played without issues. why worry then :D . no lag nothing .
 
Ow ok..

Well i had tried once playing a 1080 file but was stuttering and that too it was on dual core...well must be some other issue..codecs or something else..

:D ok ok. A faster C2D will give you more headroom for the future too!

@Boogieman, 1080p VC-1 lagging just a lil bit here on Cel M 1.5Ghz(100% cpu so not good enough :P).

Btw how many HD movies are actually using VC-1 codec? Only the direct HD-DVD copies right?!
