Looking for to buy a birthday gift for a 4 year old - Can someone provide guidance - go with a x360+kinect or wii ?
We (adults) would also be playing occasionally. Located in BLR and looking for a local store purchase.

Slightly unrelated question, but did the gray market route that we currently use to purchase Nintendo consoles exist back in the days of the Wii? I thought that most of us would have started Nintendo only during the era of the Switch.
Also, to answer your question, I believe a Wii should be better as more kid-focused games are on the Wii. The problem is getting them. Xboxes can be found almost anywhere, but getting kid focused games for the 360 would be a problem.

the 360 store and the wii store both are closed. ideally a wii would be a better choice since it has lot more 7+ rated games also has much more games that use the nunchuks also the added benifit of easy softmodding.

Compared to the kinect, the wii just has far more games. I think it's easier to mod as well as someone mentioned. The xbox 360 also does have a softmod now but that isn't really reliable yet and still requires too much time and effort. I don't think a 4 year old kid would really want to play any xbox 360 game with a controller right now or even when he's older (by that time the ps6 would be out too). The wii will stay timeless with it's uniqueness. I certainly enjoyed it too when I played some wii sports on it some 10 years back.

you can talk to @imran_chennai , he bought a wii almost 4 years back via olx

for the most part any good videogame store in bangalore or India should have capabilities to mod it for you. However if you're good with tech, certainly try and mod it yourself, you'll be able to workout any problems or modify stuff to your liking. If these vg stores are anything like pc parts stores, there's probably a slight chance they softmod it with older brews, sort of like how when stores give you free windows, it's some random windows 10 iso they've been using since 2015

I'm personally biased towards the wii simply because it was the console I grew up with. I think it's extremely appropriate for a child due to its first party game library and how easy it is to homebrew - trying to softmod it as a child was probably one of the starting moments of my tech hobby.

Let me know if you'd like to buy one off me; my hoarding problem has led to me having a few more wii consoles than I need.
