X360 optical drive prob

My new, barely 10 days old X360 has a problem.It doesnt read discs anymore....was very noisy to begin with and now this.I bought the ntsc j grey market fully aware that warranty for the same is not available soley coz i could run the ahem games.Took it to the seller but he had provided only 7days testing warranty.So i guess im screwed.Said it wud cost 2.5k to fix it after sending it to some guy in Ahmedabad (whoa,really,i hope so...) but im not sure if thats gonna help for too long.Im really disappointed.What do i do guys?
 
does it spin up atleast or has the motor completely stopped working...not sure how much this is going to help but you could try flashing it to the latest firmware if its possible..ur last option would probably be buying a second hand optical drive from somebody who has the rrod and cant get it fixed....i wouldnt advise sending it for repairs...it might conk off again within a week...if u do decide to repair it atleast ask for 15days testing warranty
