X360s vs Ps3 slim Dilema....

Hi all,

After a long time from pc gaming, I have planned to return to gaming but this time for consoles...

Now struck in dilema on which console to choose, Xbox360s or ps3 slim...

Majorly I'm inclined to ps3 for its movie playback, dvd upscalingand media playing skills.
But Can i get my game discs backed up to avoid a loss of huge amount...

Does ps3 allow playback of game images.

How good is xbox 360s in this factor...

I'd be getting it from UK and think warranty won't be applicable here. so I dont wanna damage this one...

any ps3 users /xbox 360s users can shed some light on it....

Thanks gannu already gone through that...

But my major dealbreaker is playback of backed-up games (Which i own/bought though)
I don't wanna loose 2.5k for a single scratched disc...

well for now i think getting a ps3 is not what you should do perhaps wait for a few months till the new cfw arrives beacause now you would be getting consoles which are higher than 3.55 .. So go for the xbox

now .. Tat would be safe ..
 
I have both the consoles and their media playback capabilities are comparable. Both have upscaling of standard dvds. The ps3 has BD support and supports lossless linear PCM formats so if you have the audio set-up to handle that, then ps3 is a better buy.

Regarding playing games from back-up images both supports that, but on the xbox 360 you have to hard mod the dvd drive to play back-ups. PS3 you can soft mod but that depends on the firmware version. I have been out of touch with the modding scene for quite a while so, google is your best friend in this respect.

You wont regret purchasing either one BTW

BTW softmod in Ps3 means can it be reverted back to normal ones....?
I'm strictly against hardmod.

Blu-ray playback is a plus for me...
 
Please use Google for ps3 vs xbox 360.

Also ps3 discs are not scratchable atleast on theory since its bluray

I think it'll the play games alright as PS3 games are usually region free (while Xbox360 games are not, AFAIK).
You may have issues like limited servers with MP gaming if playing games from a different region.

Bluray movies are usually region locked.

No idea about modding, et al.
 
Xbox 360 Games are Region Free if you use a HDMI+ TV ALWAYS.! I Know that as I own one..

But haven't tried Pal Only games.. So cant comment much on it..

For ps3:

1.if you want to backup classic and old games (games that require 3.55 or below ), ps3 suits you.. while new ones requires above 3.55 and patching is not so easy...

3.60+ keys is a long way...

2. if you getting a new ps3, remember it comes with above FW3.55,,,, and if you even want a new one, there's a solution like progskeet, e3,,, and sony released unhackable ps3 also, but no problem in india

3.PS3 games are region free, and if you hack use showtime, really awesome homebrew,,,

4. you can unhack it very easily(CFW to OFW).. just go to recovery and update...
 
@op, why don't you try and compare both the consoles on the basis of the games available (read: exclusives),

PS3 exclusive titles:

Heavy Rain

God of War

Uncharted

Killzone

Resistance

Gran Turismo

Infamous

Little Big Planet

Metal Gear solid, etc

360:

Halo

Gears of War

Alan Wake

Lost odyssey

Forza Motorsport, etc

other members can surely complete the list.

in the meanwhile, you can read/watch about these games and see if you can live with/out any particular game or not, and the whole problem will be less-complex..

I would choose PS3. I have both consoles but I tend to rely on my PS3 more. Not just for games, but for everything. If you compare the exclusive titles between the consoles, both deliver excellent titles but PS3 edges the competition.

Online is free which is a plus.

Like other members have mentioned think about what excites you and choose wisely ;)
