Hi!

My colleague is in Canada. Is it a good idea to get the above from Canada itself because I am hoping there will be killer Canada Deals (which is on 2 July) or get someone to get it from US (4th july deals) and hand it to her? Did come across some deals for 250$, but want to add extra controller and few games too in the bundle.

Please advise what would be the best bet and also point out the deals?

TIA!

Not to mention the need of a different power brick when it is to be used in India. How much would 250 Canadian dollars translate to in INR?

The cheapest deal I could find on eBay was for 14, 490 inc. of shipping for the 4GB bundle. You can also claim the monsoon gift offer that falls under this price bracket.

Beware of region locking. US consoles only run NTSC games.
Oh damn.

Use 10% off coupon to get this bundle at Brand New Seal Pack Xbox 360 4GB White Console with Kinect and 2 free games | eBay 21600 . If you get it from canada it will be at least 14k or more at the current exchange rate . Over that you need a voltage convector add another 1000 for it . If you want to play Legit games Buy the indian version at about 6600 more . If you are happy importing games from Canada or USA (NTSC) , or will play other games get it from Canada . You won't be getting any warranty for it , and you might have to pay customs if your friend is bring a lot of things .

Frankly not a good idea to get xbox from US/Canada...U will find only PAL games here in India unless u go on to mod it

Thanks for the replies! Finally planning to get the PS3 then from Canada. No khich khich about region and all.

For the games no, but for the movies and PSN titles - YES! They are pretty much region locked.

I can transfer my movie collection to the PS3 HDD right? And if they happen to be BD rips, they'll play too right? And what exactly are PSN titles? I'll get free access to PSN though right?

Looks like you'll need to freshen up your basics on the PS3! ;)

There's a thread in the Consoles section for you. Head over there and everything you need to know about the consoles are neatly laid out.

PSN titles are digital download titles, which are obtained from Playstation network. These games could be smaller to full fledged ones. I'm pretty sure, the download for those titles would depend on the account you create for A particular region. Say, you create a North American account, you'll be able to browse and download the games available on for that region. Simply put, it won't be a major concern.

Always ready to learn! :) (This will be my first console purchase)

Thanks for that! But I am guessing N America region works best for everyone?

Then you won't go wrong with the Playstation 3. Hope to see you actively participate in the gaming discussion once you have your console. Good luck. ;)

It worked pretty well for me. Then again, you could always open multiple accounts, if you need them.
