Hi Guys,

I'm now a proud owner of the 360 controller for Windows. I searched for a black one but dint get it. I got the white one for Rs.1300 from Lamington.

I am new to gamepads, always used the keyboard! I had a query regarding the default controls that racing games have on the 360.

For F1 2010, I use Right trigger for acceleration and Left Trigger for breaking. Left Ananlog stick for steering and right analog stick to "look around". [These are default controls for this game of course.]

Do all games on the 360 use Right trigger for acceleration or some use Left? I mean what's the norm? Also what do you guys prefer?

Yes. Most of the racers that I have played, have adopted the similar control scheme. I feel the triggers are the best way to accelerate and brake. They are pressure sensitive and hence adjust well to the amount of speed you need. I remember playing Burnout: Revenge of the Playstation 2 and it had 'X' button mapped for acceleration, which would be annoying now, since I'm accustomed to the triggers. Both the triggers are placed properly for your index finger to take over and hence allowing your right thumb to use the action buttons for say, boosting (NFS: Hot Pursuit).

This is the auto-mapped settings for almost all the games in the racing genre. :)

The good thing about this controller is that most settings are auto-mapped for most games. Others such as the Logitech Rumblepad 2 requires manual mapping.

Yup that plug n play capability is why I bought this one and not the logitech.

I asked about the controls as I was worried if F1 had a different control scheme to other games. I'm now getting used to this way of playing.

Also I felt the steering[Left analog stick] is too sensitive at times. Is there an option to set that?
