Xbox 360 Screen Format setting: Query

I recently updated my modded Xbox 360 console thru LIVE for the first time.

But I still have the "Screen format" setting greyed out. After the FALL update Its supposedly got to display something called "Reference Level" once we get inside "Screen format".

I am using the Component display thats included.

Reference Level or Black Level: If you're using the Xbox 360 Component HD AV Cable, the Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, or the Xbox 360 HDMI Cable, then screen format options include Reference Level. The default setting, Standard, delivers the normal range of white and black levels that your TV or monitor supports. Select Intermediate to increase the level of white and black in the video output. Select Expanded to maximize black level. Reference level is sometimes used to make a picture sharper, and you can experiment with what format suits your viewing pleasure.

But I am not getting that option at all...This becomes important if I am to get "non-washed-out" 1080i with DVD movies when I switch over to VGA.

Someone please help. Whats happening here.
 
not too sure whats wrong. i have always got that option after the update. i use expanded.

will do some research.

Could it be that the updates happened but maybe just the dashboard got updated or something.

Strange, Aint LIVE supposed to get my console up to date.

Maybe I have to manually update then...

Is there any other way of knowing if I actually got the update?

Anyway of getting LIVE to make the updates necessary once again?

u do get the xbox live updates on some torrent sites. u can prolly get it from there & dump it on a cd or dvdrw & then install.

i think yours is updated as earlier firmware never even showed those 3 options.

What 3 options man. The frigging "Screen Format" is itself greyed out just like before update.
 
Popped in a DVd containing some xvids and LIVE did the updates for me to play them...

I am getting Video Store and Spotlights and the side-on scroll but the darn screen format setting is still greyed out.
