Xbox 360 slim version in 2009 ?
First the Xbox 360 Blu ray and now this. After the recent announcement of Jasper 65nm as the successor to the current Falcon 65 nm CPU for the Xbox 360, there is wide speculation about the release of Xbox 540 in the year 2009. The difference between the Falcon 360s and the Jasper 360s would be that the GPU size in Jasper is smaller compared to Falcon, which brings us back to the topic : Will this lead to slimmer Xbox 360s?
TGDaily certainly thinks that a Xbox 540 (slim 360) is the next logical step to do. Come next year, Microsoft plans to introduce the Valhalla chip. This design summarizes as ‘whole system in a chip’ i.e combining the CPU and the GPU in a single chip, much like what Sony did to Playstation 2 Gen2 console.
Microsoft is also looking for a cheaper and a better cooling system than the current ones for the Xbox 360s. Some reckon that the current cooling system is as cool as it gets, Billy will like to reduce the cost and increase the profit anyway.
