Yoshihiro Maruyama, head of Xbox operations in Japan, has stated that despite murmurings in the Microsoft camp that future iterations of the 360 console would support HD-DVD, as far as games go it'll be standard DVD format all the way.

In an interview with Famitsu Xbox, Maruyama answered a question concerning the inclusion of the next-gen DVD format in future versions of the machine thusly: "It's a possibility, but it won't have any relationship to gaming. If the Xbox 360 uses a next-generation DVD drive in the future, it will only be used for watching movies that run on next-generation DVDs. The format for games will remain as DVD. That's not going to change."
Still, i think that doesn't change anything. DVD's can hold upto 18 GB of data, and games now have only started using the full 4.73 GB dvd's properly.
I think its enough to last next generation.

Xbox can use DL DVD's and 8.5GB on one side max

But 18 GB on both sides we have to flip the DVD for full 18GB.

I some how felt tha Xbox 360 will use a DVD only as BR & HD are still yet
to be available for consumers.
