Graphic Cards XFX 8600 GT heat up!

Even if he installs a side panel fan, its not worth it since, it'll not affect the temp of GPU so high.. max 1-2 C will come down.

I've 2 x 80mm fans installed near GPU to push out Hot air, they're good in doing the job, but makes little difference to GPU temp..

Ok guys....Here are my PC snaps:

I have lighted up the gfx card a bit....

I can attach only one 80mm fan(exhaust) to the lower grill in the side panel....

Also for placing 80mm fan over the gfx card, the screw holes on the card are closer to each other so I cannot figure out how to attach an 80mm fan on it.....:S

I already have an 80mm fan and fixed it to the lower grill of the sidepanel inline with the gfx card....

Idle temps are still 65C and while testing on load(playing a Prince Of Persia-2008), the gfx fan duty cycle suddenly reduces from 100% to 30%....and temps are 99C:

What is the reason behind this?

I have set it to 100% using "System Tweaks" from RivaTuner - Driver Settings.....

This change happens only while playing a game.....and not while idling....???

I think you are putting on far too much TIM.

I used about 2 drops of TIM this time....previously had used about 3-4 drops....

A thin layer of TIM was formed this time around.....

Is it still too much....?

Your GFX Card may be dying, idle temps should not be 65C. If you've tried everything then it's a pretty sad situation because it means any day now your GFX will be dead.

Far too much TIM or not it shouldn't go beyond 80C on load.

My card stays below 60C idle without a fan, so if with a fan it's 65C, something is very wrong.

Try to connect the two terminals directly to 7V molex. This way it wont slow down under load.

BTW which SMPS/PSU are you using ?

TIM's drop should be no more than half a pea in size(for CPU a full pea size drop is recommended).

I have FSP SAGA II 400W.

BTW, the fan problem is solved I think when I kept low-level settings to 100%...and system settings to auto....with these, its staying at 100% through out the game and only starts reducing proportionally after closing the game.....

I have come to know about these temps recently in 2 months...before that GPU-Z always reported 71C at idle....I was told its OK by my friend....He also has the same card....will surely check with him too...:@
