One hardware dealer told me that the price of XFX GeForce8600 GT 512 MB DDR3 as 5.2 k.

Is it ok with the price?

For this card do i need to change the SMPS?
i am having 450W zeberonics SMPS.
what abt the price of 8600 GT DDR3 card?
 
It's unlikely that you'll find it at that price here (I'm from Trivandrum too). This is about as horrible a place for computer goods purchases as it gets.

I'd seriously suggest stepping up to a 8800GT. You should be able to get it via KMD for around 7k. TONS more performance than an 8600.

I got this from googling:

"NVIDIA recommends a minimum 400 W power supply with 26 amps (on the 12V rail) for a single GPU configuration."

In short, check whether your PSU has a 6-pin PCI-E power connector. If it does, then it should work ok. Maybe someone with more 'experience' can comment on this particular point... :)
 
The price 3860 is from online store.Further reduction also possible.

Iam also from trivandrum.. From which shop did you get this quote from??

I've got a even worse quote from one of the shops in trivandrum.. 17K for a 9600GT!!! when the prices from dealers here in TE & elsewhere in the country was around 9K..
 
the price of new msi 8600 gt ddr3 version is around 3.8 k

n yes if u want to buy the card above than 86 means

9600 or 9800

than u have to the smps

which will cost u arnd 3k
 
Don't go for 8600GT, card sucks big time since i have it... Crysis warhead plays decently with minimum settings, lags/drags a lot with mainstream settings. I regret buying this card. either go for a 9800GT/9600GT or ATi 4850.
 
new 9600gso costs around 5k , get that , much faster than 8600GT . u can also wait for 4670 but i think it will be over 6k
