Other Xiaomi 15* or Samsung S25*

Mr. Studd

Hey folks!

A family member wants to upgrade from their existing Xiaomi Pro phone (I don't remember which generation it is).

Android is what they need for work and things, so iPhone(s) are out.

What phones do you recommend?

- Xiaomi 15*
- Samsung S25*

Requirements:

- Reliability
- Fast charging (current phone does 120W)
- Decent camera system (for office events, family pics, etc)

Budget doesn't seem to be a concern it seems. We disable most Xiaomi software bits, so Stock OS bloat is also not a problem.

Thanks!

Updates:

> The Galaxy S25+ supports 45W fast wired charging...

WTF? Is this a joke?

https://www.samsung.com/in/smartphones/galaxy-s25-ultra/specs/ conveniently hides this from the specs it seems.

In my opinion, lately Samsung isn't handling updates properly — they're not sticking to timelines, and the camera quality has been noticeably deteriorating on models like the S23 Ultra and S24 Ultra after updates.
So my vote goes to Xiaomi — as long as you're okay with some ads and the initial effort needed to disable them.

My experience with the Xiaomi 15:
Thread 'Xiaomi 15 (India unit) Quick Review' https://techenclave.com/threads/xiaomi-15-india-unit-quick-review.227361/

I recommend it if you don't mind the initial fiddling around to disable ads and if you don't need Good Lock-level customisation.
that should be a deal breaker imo, if Xiaomi is including ads even on their flagship series, than no point buying Xiaomi or paying their premium. I was about to grab the 15 ultra for my father, but I'll be skipping it

Even Samsung has ads and crappy practices. We will have to tweak and debloat. As someone who loves Samsung Tablets, I have come to understand that this is a price we pay for hreat software for less than iPhone level prices and an open operating system in the case of Samsung.

And the price we pay if we value great photography - but are okay with fewer software features - but more keyboard styling and others in case of Xiaomi Ultra and Vivo X Pro series.

I've had 3 Samsung Phones in the past 5 years. S20FE, S21FE and now using S25 Ultra. Not seen a single AD in that time!

What sort of AD's have you seen?

When you enable dynamic lock screens, and then there stuff like future goals, and all sorts of nonsense apps. They are all forms of advertising. There's samsung Free, and special offers and all such things.

Never seen this, maybe on the lower range but you can easily circumvent it by disabling "Wallpaper Services" in Setttings.

same here ^^, We have S23, S24U, S22U and none of these phones have displayed this, at max it'll be some notification about some samsung sale or something (not sure, but when I setup S23, I did see one notification)

xiaomi literally shows porno
Well, I don't think xiaomi hosts ads on its own. It should be using google adsense etc.
In that case, the ads are dependent on your usage. They show relevant ads according to the data they have on you from searches etc. I have never gotten such ads

nope, You can see GeekyRanjit's video on the same, He got those ads as well, as well multiple people on Internet, as well as my father (you dont know how embarrassing that was, when I got him a new phone and first thing he sees? a fricking ad about a desi sex tape site), and even if so, it doesnt excuse the manufacture simply because they use adsense, idgaf what they use, its upto them to make sure they show appropriate content on their phone
