Guys I have a friend in China who is helping me source the famous but rare Xiaomi M1 but he is saying that it is selling at a rate much higher than the $350 that it is sold for at Xiaomi.com

If more people are interested in buying the phone then maybe I could start a GO for it and enquire about rates if we buy in bulk.

I would also be needing the help of senior members over here for 2 purposes:

1) I can only order around 5 phones through my Shopandship account before the customs might start snooping around.

2) I can only send so much amount through my paypal account before the IT department becomes interested. So if the count reaches a very large number, I will ask some senior members who have PayPal accounts to help me out.

Why isn't this in the Hot Deals section?

Because it isn't a hot deal right now. Only if enough people show interest will I be able to ask my friend to waste his time haggling for us.

If the mods still feel this is the wrong section for such a discussion, I apologize and would ask this thread to be moved to the right section.

Wow. No love for the M1. I thought we had a lot of MIUI lovers here.
 
I am interested. Its an MIUI phone for gods sake... I am always interested in anything to do with MIUI

Well I was hoping for a more exuberant response but 1's a start. Looks like I should get more details and post a new thread in the hot deals section.
 
One of my friends in the US is using it so definitely English UI is available. Plus unlocked bootloader and you can dualboot latest version of Cyanogen Mod on it too. The best of both worlds. One being vanilla android and the other the most skinned ROM available for Android phones.
 
Please sign me up and send me instructions on action from my side.Looking forward to dual boot optimised ROM and beta ROM (I hear Ice Cream Sandwich makes GB look like Android 1.0!).

The dollar rates are playing havoc and the less stock doesn't help either. The best quote I got for 5 pieces was 21000 after paying SNS fees and customs. I don't know how many people would pay this much for a non-warranty phone, though I would without batting an eyelid. I have asked him to get a quote for 10 pieces that if he can find so many.
 
The dollar rate is the problem right now. Plus they are not easy to find either. The dealers who bought in bulk are now quoting exorbitant prices. So I don't think it makes much sense going for it right now.

The main reason I wanted to buy this phone was because I love MIUI and running it on an S2 is PITA, especially due to the No service bug.

Hey Mate, Which build are you running ? im running the latest 20.1.12 and its working absolutely fine, dont have the noservice bug at all

Hmm. I never used MIUI after the 1.11.18 build because it was literally impossible to use your phone on that build. Plus this No service bug only affects some phones while some users don't face any problems at all, so you never know, maybe it's still around.

you wont know until you try can you ??? i had no service bug twice before with pre 6.1 build, try the new build, i can confirm its working fine now
